Darlene Booker is one of the eldest children of Mr. Sid Booker and has had the privilege of working under his guidance for many years. While nearly all of Sid Booker's children have contributed to Stinger La Pointe at some point in their lives, it is Darlene and Sid Booker, III. who received the most extensive training in the operations of the successful nightclub and shrimp window.

Sid Booker chose Darlene to lead the way in continuing the legacy of Stinger La Pointe, while also encouraging his other children to remain involved in the business.

Darlene is a proud graduate of Martin Luther King Jr. High School in Philadelphia and earned an Associate's Degree in Behavioral Health, as well as Drug and Alcohol Counseling from Community College of Philadelphia.

Darlene’s Journey at Stinger La Pointe

Darlene began her career at her father’s bar and nightclub at the age of 16, starting in the coat room. As she matured, she transitioned to the kitchen, where she worked for ten years. By the time she was 22, Sid Booker recognized Darlene's readiness and appointed her as the General Manager of Stinger La Pointe.

Darlene served as the General Manager for nearly thirty years. Eventually, she stepped back from managing the bar to focus on her role as a foster parent. Her career also includes experience at Presbyterian Hospital and The Cancer Treatment Center of America.

Even during her time away from Stinger La Pointe, Darlene's heart remained there, understanding that it was one of her father's greatest passions. She always made an effort to attend significant events at the venue, ensuring her continued involvement. Darlene expresses immense pride in her father, particularly when he launched the Stinger La Pointe Shrimp Truck. At its peak, there were five trucks, which became a huge success throughout the city.

Reopening Stinger La Pointe

Join Darlene as she officially reopens Stinger La Pointe, starting with a soft schedule, open on Fridays and Saturdays from 6 PM to midnight. The venue is also available for special events. The ultimate goal is to reopen Stinger La Pointe at least four nights a week, so stay tuned for updates on expanded hours.
